Separation
Separation is commonly referred to as a "separated shoulder." This can also be called an "acromioclavicular (AC) separation" or "AC joint separation," which is a painful injury to the junction at the end of the collarbone (clavicle) and the acromion of the shoulder. The acromion and collarbone form the AC joint. This joint is stabilized by two ligaments that are torn with an AC separation. It is mostly frequently caused by a fall or traumatic force directly on the AC joint. This injury is different than a dislocated shoulder.
Milwaukee Physician Treats Shoulder Separation
Milwaukee physician, Dr. Gertel, regularly treats patients with shoulder injuries such as AC joint separation. If you feel you may have experienced a work-related injury involving the separation of your shoulder, do not delay in having it checked out.
